Sophia believes that arts education means access; access to the world of imagination and possibility.

Sophia is an arts educator around New York City. She teaches in public schools and various dance studios as well as self produced contemporary classes. Through her time learning as assistant teaching artist through Lincoln Center Education programs, she has knowledge/ practice with the use of deeply rooted teaching philosophies of aesthetic education in a skills-based learning environment, and practices this daily in her own artistic endeavors. Her teaching style centers her students’ needs through movement ideas she is interested in supported by her physiological knowledge and neuromuscular knowledge in personal training. She facilitates a warm environment for growth and healthy habits by prioritizing healthy practices of asking permission, creating a democratized learning environment, and pushing students’ to be their best through constructive feedback and high caliber training. Her goal is to share every ounce of information she has to empower the dancers to be able to understand their bodies’ better and learn to self- correct; not just in dance, but also in life.
